Several Star Wars films used real Tunisian locations. Sourced locations include:
- Tozeur area / Ong Jemel – Onk Jemal (Ong Jmal) near Tozeur was used for Tatooine scenes in the prequels, including the Mos Espa set (The Phantom Menace); the abandoned sets can still be visited.
- Nefta – La Grande Dune near Nefta is where the droids' escape pod lands (A New Hope).
- Chott el Djerid – the Lars homestead exterior (the igloo) was built on the salt flat.
- Matmata – Hotel Sidi Driss, the troglodyte house used as the Lars homestead interior.
- Djerba – exterior shots of the Mos Eisley spaceport were filmed on the island.
